G Gangatharan
His upbringing in the vicinity of temples around Kumbakonam has made G. Gangatharan an artist of great talent in temple themes. His six feet tall oil color portrait of the deity Rajadurgaiamman in Patteeswarm temple in the suburbs of Kumbakonam speaks volumes of his talent. Even though it was created three decades ago, it is still fresh and stunning for the visitors to this temple even today. It is still on display at the temple Prakaram. His works feature both extremes of religious and contemporary flavor to such an extent that it satisfies taste of art lovers of both styles
